Butterfly jewels

I've also just finished a dozen butterflies in bright colours - looser than previous butterfly paintings but definitely in a style that comes naturally to me. And I've resinned them too. Looking forward to seeing them on the wall at this weekend's exhibition - see www.crea8.info for more details.

New resin paintings!

There is a house on the highway at Highfields (sounds like a song...) that often sells bunches of fresh proteas from a bucket for $5 each. So often I see them and plan to get some on the way home, but on the way home they're all gone. Well, finally I managed to stop and get two bunches of these gorgeous natives and I was inspired to paint them from life - which is new because most of my paintings come out of my head. And I'm really happy with how they turned out - and they're RESINNED! (see the reflections!??!) I am thinking that I may have finally found my 'thing'! I just love the way colours come to life under resin. My family isn't so happy about eating at the breakfast bench while yet another batch of paintings or lazy susan's dry, but ah, I love it!

Lazy Susans now available

This batch of lazy susans (my friend, Suzanne, would like me to rename them 'Whirly Swirly Table Art' ) was coated with lovely glossy resin just a couple of days ago and the frangipani one has already sold. They'll be for sale at the upcoming 'crea8' ART SHOW at Highfields this weekend, along with some butterfly and floral paintings that I've also coated in resin and am really happy with! I'll post some more images tonight.

Freaky Chickens

I don't know what happened to this photo - it obviously posterised or something, but it's of "Chickens at the end of my rainbow", a funny sort of painting I did last week (before my gastro and my son's night of the same) in time for the next crea8 girl's art show at the end of the month. I've used this image (hopefully in the correct colours - and I've already sent it to the printers!) on the DL promo flyer for the event, which can be seen here. Check it out if you have a moment.

Why Original Art?

I found this article in a recent O magazine and quite liked it! I think if you click on it it'll be large enough to read off your screen...
